I am just the one of thousands of those Tsinghua University alumni, and now I do not work there anymore. But whenever taking about this Tsinghua, I will be as excited as in my youth, and have too much to say. What’s the glamour of Tsinghua? She has good campus and advanced equipment? But other universities also have such things. She has a not so long history. Among international universities, there is no lacking of century-history ones. Thinking it for many times, I think it is its people in Tsinghua, or the special association between people in Tsinghua and Chinese history that make Tsinghau so attaactive. When talking about Tsinghua schoolmates, I miss my teachers. In my freshman year in Tssinghua, Yu Pingbo and Yu Guanying, they were my Chinese teachers. One taught me reading, the other taught me composition, both of whom were cordial and strict. Once, Mr. Yu pointed out my mistakes of mixing Boston ivy and bramble, and asked me to write more several articles to show him. In my second year, He Lin taught me History of Western Philosophy. When seeing my more than one-hundred-pages English report, he praised me in the class rather than scolded. Right under his conduct, I read lots of translation-books of Greek philosophers’ great works, which gave me the joys like Christopher Columbus found the America. Tsinghua students who were in the same grade as us (1935-1939) had the same special experience---being involved in the Anti-Japanese War. We spent the first two years in Tsinghua Park and the next two years in Changsha, Nanyue, Mengzi and Kunming. Some students went to the Liberated Area for guerrilla warfare against Japanese, while most of the students were engaged in the war directly or indirectly in Southwest China, the then home front.(译文来自网络)
